The client needed a silent sales person in the form of an attractive display for a C-store chain in Mexico that would be able to dispense 2 different kibble products-pedigree and whiscas at the same time. They had done their homework and knew that selling dog and cat food bulk is their biggest cash cow in the market but up until that moment it had been done in a more traditional way without much strategic thought and thru the channel of mom and pop stores mostly. They needed an innovative way to get to the consumer in a C-strore environment with its limitations. The unit needed to be able to dispense 2 different kinds of kibble, without breaking them or turning them into dust, allow a lot of space for graphics work, had a built in ladder mechanism so there would be no issues with filling it up even by shorter store personnel in the southeast of Mexico a part from a custom pusher system on the bottom shelves that will allow the sale of packaged product. The biggest challenge is that based on their focus group results they now wanted a vending machine like look, feel and a push mechanism instead of pull to achieve that. After all that, it had to be FDA approved!
