As grocery prices continue to outpace inflation, over two-thirds of consumers report that their grocery spending increased from the previous year, according to a survey by the Food Industry Association. As food prices soar, consumers are not buying fewer groceries. On the contrary, they are buying more because they are eating out less.

Even though consumers are still favoring cooking over eating out, they are still looking for ways to save money on groceries. Survey respondents are looking more for deals than they used to, buying in bulk, buying store brands, cutting back on fresh meat and seafood purchases, and buying less fresh produce.
